Strictly Come Dancing: week three – live

It’s movie week, and our couples are dancing to everything from Dirty Dancing to The Full Monty and … Jurassic Park. Popcorn at the ready!

Their Movie Week choice is the Samba to ‘Hakuna Matata’ from The Lion King, which I’ve seen hundreds of times because it was my son’s favourite childhood film. It means no worries, but I think we’re all a bit worried about Richie’s ability to deliver a serviceable Samba whilst dressed as a meerkat, and whether even Gio can pull off a sexy warthog. Will probably re-write this sentence later.

Can’t help noticing that the background music to this training sequence is James Newman’s ill-fated 2021 Eurovison entry. Hopefully this routine won’t also score nil points.

How Phillip Schofield went from children’s TV star to ousted This Morning host

A look back at presenter’s career, which has taken a hit thanks to a series of damaging press stories Phillip Schofield’s biographer once described the TV presenter as the “hottest star in Britain today” with a “glorious, uplifting life story”. Asteroid City review – Wes Anderson’s 1950s sci-fi is an exhilarating triumph of pure style

This tale of earth-shattering events in a space-obsessed desert town leans nicely into its own artificiality, and every delicious, microscopic detail is a delight To say that he’s done it again – yet again – is going to mean something different to fans and non-fans. But I have to say the first category is the only place to be for what is simply a terrifically entertaining and lightly sophisticated new comedy from Wes Anderson, in his signature rectilinear, deadpan style, with primary-pastel colours and his all-star repertory ensemble cast. Regulars including Jason Schwartzman and Tilda Swinton are now joined by Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hanks, who have been welcomed into the droll Anderson fold. And the director emphatically proves that the YouTube pasticheurs are like Butlin’s Elvis impersonators: they’re not quite doing it.
